What we do

Leading Innovator in Wastewater Treatment

Industrial wastewater is one of the largest contributors to the growing presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and microplastics in the environment. These contaminants are not only difficult to detect and remove—they’re nearly impossible to break down. That’s where American Water Remediation steps in.

What Are PFAS? Why Should You Care?About

PFAS are synthetic chemicals used in countless industrial applications—from manufacturing, coating, and packaging to cleaning agents and firefighting foams. Once discharged into wastewater, they resist natural degradation and can persist in the environment for decades, posing serious regulatory and reputational risks for corporations.

At the same time, microplastics, often stemming from production processes, abrasion of equipment, or packaging breakdowns, are increasingly regulated and scrutinized by environmental authorities.

American Water Remediation uses crossflow ultrafiltration and advanced adsorption technologies designed to capture both PFAS molecules and microplastic particles down to the sub-micron level.

Microplastic Removal for Industrial & Commercial Facilities

System Integration & Automation:
Seamlessly connects with your existing wastewater infrastructure, allowing for real-time monitoring, performance tracking, and easy maintenance.

Our PFAS and Microplastic Removal Process Includes:

Pre-Treatment Filtration:

Separates coarse solids and suspended microplastics from the wastewater stream.

Advanced Adsorption Media:

Ultrafiltration and nanofiltration layers trap particles as small as 0.001 microns, removing remaining

microplastics and PFAS traces.

Advanced Adsorption Media:

Proprietary carbon treated sand media specifically engineered to bind PFAS, Phenol compounds and organic micropollutants.

Our proprietary solutions

Carbon Activated Sand

  • High Surface Area Porosity – Our proprietary activated sand has an
exceptionally high surface area. Made up of Micropores (< 2 nm),
Mesopores (2-50 nm) and Macropores (>50 nm).
  • Vast Surface Area allows sand to adsorb large quantities of contaminants
    even at low concentrations.
  • Varied pore sizes enable sand to trap small molecules as well as larger
    molecules.
  • Due to high surface area, activated sand can achieve rapid
adsorption, reducing the time needed for purification.
  • Chemically inert- will not react with food, beverages,
    pharmaceuticals etc.
  • Sustainable and long lasting, easily cleaned and regenerated
  • Flexible Application- small scale to large scale usage (municipal to
    water treatment plants)
